Hello Reader What does it take to succeed? “Grit” - “Commitment” - "Mindset" are common responses, but this is a hard question to respond to because so much of your success relies on you and the realization that you are responsible for your own destiny. Being responsible for your own destiny includes: Realizing your worth. You feel confident that not only do you have something to share, but that something is valuable and worth sharing with others. What the means is your feel comfortable quoting a fair price for your services. Continually learning and growing as an independent consultant. You realize you don’t know everything and you admit it, but you don’t stop there. When you don’t know, you go figure it out. You rely on your creativity and innovation to help you but you realize asking for help is a strength and you are not afraid to do so. Accepting the risk and uncertainty. As an independent consultant, you step out of your comfort zone and accept the risk and uncertainty of being responsible for your own destiny. This requires you to put fear behind you and act and as you do, you rely on your support team and community. Doing whatever it takes to build a successful consulting business. It is great to work a 9-to-5 job and go home at night but for many independent consultants, the 9-to-5 life isn’t a fit for them. If this is you, you think about life differently and realize that building a business requires laying one brick at a time and doing whatever it takes to succeed. Realizing there will be ups and downs. Boy, I realize how easy it is to give up when you are down or the business isn’t moving in the right direction. The right mindset is brushing the down day off, remaining on course and mastering what it takes to build a successful consulting business. This week's question: Do you have what it takes to succeed?
